Put it this way
... based on their performances at Cannes, if someone offered me a stake in either of these 3 agencies I wouldn't exactly turn my nose up: Jung von Matt, Prime PR and Droga5

I asked Patti Smith about social media.
She doesn't use it (she only recently got a mobile phone). But it's useful, she said, for global movements to make the world a better place. "Governments and corporations fear all this. We need to strike more fear in them."

The Awards Ceremony Queue
Three hours before the award ceremony there was already a queue in front of the Palais. Those who, like me, refused to wait that long in today's glaring heat, now only have the chance to get a seat in the Debussy auditorium, and watch the ceremony on the screen.

Know thy Enemy
Speaking to journalists at the Palais, Patti Smith explained her involvement in an advertising festival as a situation of "knowing thy enemy." A lot of advertising is evil, she said. "Stop giving us so much advertising. Find a way to serve us that's not so invasive. Give us less and find a way to speak to us with less volume."

France, Je T'aime
Chocolat et Champagne; Fromage et Vin; Glace et Macron's ... You do it all so well; a gastronomical affair of the heart. I never want to leave, but fear I will soon be waddling if I continue to indulge in these temptations!

The Last Day
The Palais appears to be a bit deserted today. Apart from people visiting the seminars only few people are in the exhibition downstairs. Also no more free Coke today. Instead a lot of festival participants can be seen walking around the town, carrying large shopping bags and sitting in cafes. Saturday appears to be rather for relaxation and preparation for the final award ceremony and the closening gala.

The Joie de Vivre ... Macaron's
Insider tip: For the best macaron's (en Francaise, there is only 1 'o') in Cannes, head to Jean Luc Pele on Rue d'Antibes. Whatever floats your boat - be it Fois Gras avec Pomme or Le Fleur d'Oranger - there is something for everyone. That's the joie de vivre! Bon appetit!
